Canelo wanted Gervonta Davis to face major consequence for controversial moment in disputed draw

Canelo Alvarez was appalled by what happened during Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach Jr, claiming ‘Tank’ deserved a severe punishment.

While the boxing superstar entered the bout as a monumental favorite, fans quickly realized that the underdog, wasn’t there just to take part.

In the ninth round, after taking a jab, Davis went to one knee, before heading to his corner, where his face was wiped down with a towel. Bizarrely, no knockdown was called, and the fight continued.

Ultimately, the contest was declared a draw, leaving Roach furious. And while, Davis has explained the reason why he went down, Canelo doesn’t care.

Canelo Alvarez says Gervonta Davis should’ve been disqualified against Lamont Roach JR.

Canelo Alvarez has cemented his status as one of the greatest boxers in Mexican history, utilizing his sublime head movement and thunderous power to dazzle his adoring fans.

And in his expert opinion, Gervonta Davis should’ve been disqualified the moment he went to his corner to get wiped down.

In an interview with Hot 97, the four-weight world champion, explained: “He take a knee. He needs to lose the round 10-8 at least.

“The corner went up and put a towel in his face. That’s a disqualification, for sure. I’m talking about the rules.”

With Davis receiving criticism from all angles following his fight with Lamont Roach Jr, many are hopeful that he’ll give his countryman a rematch.

However, Tank has given mixed signals on whether that will take place.

And if it doesn’t, the power puncher has plenty of other options.

Now, one of the best prospects in boxing has challenged Davis to an almighty showdown.
