Duke McKenzie was blown away by the knockout Hamzah Sheeraz produced against Edgar Berlanga on Saturday night.
He was so impressed that he claimed that Canelo Alvarez would rather hang up the gloves than set foot inside the ring with the power puncher.
When asked about the potential contest during an interview with Seconds Out, the 62-year-old said: “I don’t think that fight will happen.
“I think Canelo will retire rather than fight Sheeraz. I don’t think he’ll fight Sheeraz.
“I think Canelo is not going to beat Terence Crawford for starters. If he loses to Crawford, you’re not going to tempt him back into the ring, I think he’ll retire.
“I don’t think he wants any part of Hamzah Sheeraz because Hamzah Sheeraz is the man of the moment, all the cards are stacked in his favor.
“In my eyes, Canelo is a fading champion.”
