Lou Dibella has compared Canelo Alvarez vs Jake Paul to a ‘ritual slaughter’.
The boxing promoter was one of the 60 million Netflix viewers who watched Jake Paul beat 58-year-old Mike Tyson by decision at AT&T Stadium in Texas last weekend.
Post-fight, talk immediately turned to who the YouTuber-turned-boxer should face next. Artur Beterbiev, Carl Froch, and Daniel Dubois are just some of the big-name boxers who have offered themselves up as potential opponents.
However, ‘The Problem Child’ has made it clear he wants to face Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez next.

Lou Dibella gets real about Jake Paul
In a recent episode of his podcast, Jake Paul acknowledged he might be biting off more than he can chew in a potential boxing match with Canelo Alvarez.
“Generally, everyone’s biggest critique is ‘Fight a pro! Fight someone your age!’,” he said. “So when I said Canelo is the person, then everyone hates on that…wouldn’t the best opportunity to see me lose be going up against Canelo?
“People won’t be satisfied with my career until I get f***ing flatlined…one of the best to ever do it, a legend, pound-for-pound great… yeah, it’s gonna be an insane fight. It’s gonna be hard as f***. I might get my a** beat and flatlined. But let’s f***ing find out!”
A section of fans are getting behind the fight between the 11-1 novice and one of boxing’s very best.
However, DiBella wants to remind everyone about Paul’s role in the sport and his chances against Canelo.
He tweeted: “I’m not a Jake fan, but there is beginning to be Jake Derangement Syndrome. Jake’s an entertainer, #boxing star and one of the powerful people in the sport, no matter what you/I think of him. He’s also not at responsible for the sorry state of boxing, he’s PLAYING IT.
“A Jake Paul fight against a 58 year old man shouldn’t have been licensed by a State Athletic Commission. It was a sports entertainment spectacle. We need to regain our sanity and keep it real in #boxing. Canelo vs Jake Paul would be like sanctioning a ritual slaughter.”
What’s next for Mike Tyson?
As Jake Paul looks to secure the biggest bouts available, Mike Tyson appears to be done with the sport after fighting professionally for the first time since Kevin McBride retired him in 2005.
‘Iron Mike’ initially suggested he would fight on as he called out Logan Paul immediately after losing to his brother.
Since then, he’s issued a statement that hinted he will walk away from the sport for good.
“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson wrote on X. “I’m grateful for last night.
“No regrets to get in ring one last time. I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lb in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.
“To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.”
