Boxer loses every round before landing incredible KO to win title fight

Conah Walker was minutes away from a likely decisive loss to Harry Scarff.

Three boxing judges had Conah Walker dragging behind on the scorecards in his matchup with Harry Scarff for the British welterweight championship. But after 10 rounds of being outclassed by Scarff, Walker rallied to pull off one of the greatest comebacks in recent boxing history.

Scarff frustrated Walker with his range and size in the early rounds of the fight, repeatedly landing 1-2 combinations through Walker’s guard. He was able to tie up Walker when he pressed forward, stopping aggressive pursuits and dictating the pace of the fight.

But Walker started to find his timing in the later rounds, and while he didn’t win many exchanges, he did land some damaging shots to Scarff’s chin in Rounds 9 and 10. In Round 11 with everything on the line, Walker went all-out and threw everything he had at Scarff against the ropes to earn the come-from-behind TKO victory.

Conah Walker rallies to knock out Harry Scarff just minutes away from likely defeat

During Walker’s post-fight interview, he admitted that his comeback win epitomized his long road to the welterweight belt.

“I always knew I’d get here,” Walker said. “I’ve done it the hard way, I did it the hard way tonight. We’ve never done anything easy. I found the shot, it wasn’t no fluke. If you win the British title you can go for world honors. I’m the British champion now, I’m the f***ing king of Britain.” (h/t Boxing Scene)

Before the come-from-behind win over Scarff, Walker defeated Lewis Ritson to earn the welterweight title shot. He’s won four of his last five fights overall.

After Walker’s wild win, Dalton Smith defeated Walid Ouizza in the main event to earn the EBU and WBC silver super lightweight titles. He knocked out Ouizza with a leaping left hook at the end of Round 1.

This was Walker’s sixth career knockout victory which moved him to an overall record of 15-3-1. After appearing on the cusp of a lopsided defeat, Walker is now a British boxing titleholder, in a remarkable twist of fortunes.
