Pound-for-pound star Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis will lock horns with WBA super featherweight champion Lamont Roach in a rather uninspiring lightweight clash on December 14.
In truth, the majority of fans were hoping to see WBA titleist Gervonta Davis collide with either Shakur Stevenson or Vasyl Lomachenko in a unification at 135 lbs.
And yet, while there is a clear demand to see him in the biggest and most lucrative fights possible, the 29-year-old seemingly remains a fair distance away from his career-defining moment.
Elsewhere on the PBC card, however, there could be a more intriguing showdown between Stephen Fulton and Brandon Figueroa, with the pair set to rematch at the end of this year.

WBC upgrade Brandon Figueroa to full champion ahead of reported rematch with Stephen Fulton
Fulton and Figueroa battled it out for the WBC and WBO world super bantamweight trinkets in a pulsating 12-round dustup back in 2021.
After claiming a fiercely contested majority decision, Fulton went on to defend his titles against Daniel Roman before taking on formidable Japanese star Naoya Inoue.
As most had anticipated, the American ultimately succumbed to the ferocious power of Inoue, but is now back in the win column after claiming a split decision against Carlos Castro.
Figueroa, meanwhile, has amassed three solid victories since his defeat to Fulton, beating Castro, too, as well as Mark Magsayo and Jessie Magdaleno.
In fact, the aggressive volume puncher came through their common opponent in devastating fashion, securing a destructive sixth-round stoppage over Castro.
But now, with the pair both campaigning up at featherweight, it seems as though a rematch could be in the works.
More than that, it appears that Figueroa would enter the potential contest as the full WBC champion, with Rey Vargas becoming the sanctioning body’s champion in recess.
Fans react to Rey Vargas becoming the WBC featherweight champion in recess
Once again, it seems as though fans are struggling to comprehend the logic behind the WBC’s decision, with there now being too many champions in each division to keep track of.
One fan said: “Another bizarre move from the Protected Boxing Champions. The WBC and WBA are way to bias towards [Al] Haymon fighters.”
Another added: “This is what’s wrong with boxing.”
Someone else said: “Of course [the PBC] gotta add some meat on that bone. WBA and WBC are the biggest jokes in Boxing.”
