The latest on Ben Whittaker’s injury sustained during his fight with Liam Cameron has been revealed.
Whittaker was fighting on the card of Artur Beterbiev’s majority decision win against Dmitry Bivol and was the favorite heading into the fight.
He didn’t have it his own way though as Cameron proved to be a formidable opponent.
With seconds to go in the fifth round, the pair found themselves near the ropes before they both fell over them and landed outside of the ring.
Cameron landed on top of Whittaker, who was left in pain and forced to leave the Kingdom Arena in a wheelchair.
Officials decided to call an end to the fight early and dubbed the contest a technical draw – much to the frustration of Cameron and his team.

Ben Whittaker suffers two injuries after falling out of ring
Some had accused Whittaker of playing up to the camera in the immediate aftermath of the ring incident after many felt he was trying to avoid defeat after struggling to cope with Cameron in the five rounds.
Whittaker’s promoter Ben Shalom has played down those claims however and revealed that his star suffered two injuries on Saturday night.
He told Sky Sports News: “Following the unprecedented incident that ended the match on Saturday night, Ben Whittaker is undergoing further assessments on his neck as a previous injury was aggravated by the fall.
“He also experienced an ankle sprain and will begin a rehab process as soon as he is cleared by doctors and is determined to be back in the ring as soon as possible.”
Ben Whittaker ‘smashes’ fan’s phone hours after leaving stadium in wheelchair
It wouldn’t be the last time Whittaker would make headlines in Saudi Arabia, with The Sun claiming that he smashed a fan’s phone while in the airport, forcing security to intervene.
Footage of a hole Whittaker had punched in his dressing room had gone viral and in the latest report, a witness revealed how the IBF light-heavyweight champion reacted poorly to a fan.
“I spotted Ben Whittaker coming through security and then a fan who had a boxing T-shirt on went up with his phone and went to take a photo,” he recalled.
“Ben said ‘don’t take no photos of me’ and snatched the phone out of his hand and smashed it straight on the floor.
“Ben stepped towards him, looked like he was gonna punch him and some of Ben’s team jumped in between them and it got really heated – they were shouting at each other.”
He added that both men were then detained by security and had their passports taken from them before being allowed to board the plane after Whittaker apologized and promised to pay for the phone to be repaired.
