Anthony Joshua presented with new opponent option for comeback after call out from bare-knuckle champion

Anthony Joshua could have a new challenge on his hands with BKFC heavyweight world champion, Ben Rothwell, calling him out for an epic showdown.

The power puncher would love to set foot in the boxing ring in a bid to pull off one of the greatest upsets in the history of the sport.

Ben Rothwell thinks he can beat Anthony Joshua in a boxing match

On Saturday night, at BKFC: Knucklemania V, Ben Rothwell produced a truly brilliant performance, rendering Mick Terrill unconscious inside just 36 seconds to win the biggest prize in bare-knuckle boxing.

After a lifetime of hard work and sacrifice, at the age of 43, the American can finally say he’s the best in the world.

However, rather than resting on his laurels, the former UFC star is willing to switch sports again for a titanic battle with Anthony Joshua inside the squared circle.

And with ‘AJ’ coming off a devastating loss to Daniel Dubois, he might believe this is the right match-up to take.

In an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Rothwell exclaimed: “How much time have I got? Maybe a year or so, it really depends. But [I want] Francis Ngannou [and] Anthony Joshua.

“To put the gloves on and prove how good at boxing I am would very much be a bucket list item.

“I just don’t feel like I’ve ever gotten to show the boxing world how good of a boxer I am.

“Right now, the BKFC and UFC fans just say I’m a brawler. They don’t understand my precision, they don’t understand how capable I truly am, but if I got to fight one of them, that would be a huge opportunity for me to show the world how good I really am.”

‘Knuckle up’… Ben Rothwell accepts call out from UFC icon

With Rothwell seemingly keen for collisions with Joshua and Ngannou, the future certainly looks bright.

However, there’s another combat sports legend who’d love to trade leather with the MMA veteran.

And it’s fair to say this man would be nothing short of terrifying in bare-knuckle.
