Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk talk tactics as they reunite after two-fight series

Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk were sat beside one another watching the Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol card.

Anthony Joshua was handed his second career defeat in 2021 when he faced mandatory challenger, Oleksandr Usyk.

Usyk, who had begun campaigning at heavyweight after cleaning out the cruiserweight division, met Joshua in his hometown and defeated the Brit in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the heavyweight world title.

Joshua improved his performance in the rematch, though fell short once more against the Ukrainian pound-for-pound king.

Since sharing the ring for 24 rounds, Usyk has gone on to become the first undisputed heavyweight since Lennox Lewis after besting Tyson Fury, whilst Joshua has put together a string of wins, but was stopped in his last outing against Daniel Dubois.

Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk in ringside conversation

Sat together to watch all the action, Joshua and Usyk were seen discussing tactics together.

Both Joshua and Usyk are currently targeting a rematch with Dubois, with Joshua hoping to right his wrongs in the first fight, and Usyk aiming to clear up any controversy from the ‘low-blow’ incident in their first fight.

Dubois was set to face Joseph Parker in the co-main event for Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol 2, but was taken ill and Martin Bakole stepped in to replace him.

Beterbiev vs Bivol 2: All the results so far

In the opening bout of the card, Joe Gallagher’s fighter, Mohammed Alakel, defeated Engel Gomez on points. This marked Gomez’ 44th loss to an undefeated fighter.

In a fight of the year contender, Callum Smith defeated Joshua Buatsi in a war that ended in a razor-thin decision victory for the Liverpudlian. Fans have taken issue with one judge’s scorecard for the Buatsi Smith bout, however, as it was far too wide.

In what many consider a major upset, Agit Kabayel became the first man to stop Zhilei Zhang after a lethal barrage of body shots. Kabayel was dropped earlier in the fight and was forced to brush himself off to defeat the feared ‘Big Bang’ Zhang.

Some suggest Zhang could’ve got up after Kabayel dropped him.

Vergil Ortiz Jr. defied his doubters to defeat Israil Madrimov on points after an entertaining bout between the pair.

In the latest bout of the card, Hamzah Sheeraz fell short on his first world title attempt as he fought to a split decision draw against Carlos Adames.

Fans were outraged by the decision, as most fans believe Adames rightfully beat Sheeraz.
