Katie Taylor defended her IBF, WBC and WBO super-lightweight belts against Amanda Serrano, but it wasn’t without controversy.
Taylor was awarded the win by unanimous decision with all three judges scoring the fight 95-94 in favor of the Irish star.
Many felt Serrano had been robbed in the contest, in which she had to battle through with a severe cut to the eye.
Both fighters delivered another incredible spectacle and create history by recording the largest payday in women’s boxing.

Amanda Serrano’s manager exchanges verbals with Eddie Hearn after controversial defeat
One of the biggest talking points of the fight was Katie Taylor’s alleged dirty tactics during the fight.
The 38-year-old was deducted a point in the eighth round for an illegal headbutt and had inflicted a massive cut above the eye of her Puerto Rican counterpart due to a similar incident earlier.
During the fight, Serrano’s coach slammed Taylor’s behavior in the ring, claiming ‘she’s so dirty’.
Meanwhile Amanda Serrano herself claimed that she ‘knew it was going to be shady’.
She said: “I knew if it went to the judges it would be a little shady.
“I came here and I chose to be great going up three divisions. I went up three divisions, and I am the featherweight champion of the world. I want to be great, and I fight the best. It is what it is.
“She does it in every fight. It was my first cut after 40 fights was with Taylor. I’ve seen her use her head dirty.”
After the fight pictures of Serrano’s manager Jordan Maldonado and Taylor’s, Eddie Hearn, appeared of the two having to be separated following a dispute over the result of the fight.
Is there a rematch clause for Taylor vs Serrano?
There is no rematch clause as it stands, however, it appears that both fighters would certainly be open to the possibility of running it back for a third time.
Speaking after her win, Taylor hinted that she would be open to fighting for a third time.
She said: “Well, it’s obviously hard to score the fight, but I knew it was an absolute slug fest in there, an absolute war. Thank god I won this fight.
“Congratulations to Amanda. She’s a fantastic fighter. I think we agreed to 12 three minute rounds in our next fight. The triple is on.”
