‘A rose with thorns’… Oleksandr Usyk shares powerful message ahead of undisputed clash with Daniel Dubois

Oleksandr Usyk will face Daniel Dubois on July 19th in Wembley Stadium, London.

Oleksandr Usyk is hoping to do the double on yet another British fighter as he rematches Daniel Dubois next month.

Usyk has already defeated Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua twice, as well as other British fighters such as Derek Chisora and Tony Bellew, who believes Usyk will KO Dubois.

The Ukrainian is seeking to become a two-time heavyweight champion with a win over Dubois, and has shared a poetic message ahead of his fight.

Oleksandr Usyk debuts his poetry skills ahead of undisputed war

Ahead of his mega-fight with Dubois, Usyk has shared a powerful message with Boxing King Media, who spoke to the pound-for-pound elite about his passion outside of the ring – writing poetry.

Usyk, who dreams of fighting in Ukraine, shared one of his poems, which describes the struggle of sticking to your path amidst distractions and naysayers.

The poem read: “To the stars, through thorns, we forge our own path / Some walk the middle, some the edge of the road / Choose a challenging path for yourself / Don’t expect an easy journey ahead / A rose with thorns shines even in manure / Ignore the noise that surrounds you. / Some judge deeds, others spread the word / If you build your path, only you can walk God’s road for yourself.”

The poem is testament to Usyk’s mental fortitude, never straying from the path of discipline and always striving to perfect his craft, something that will undoubtedly prove important for his fight with Dubois.

Daniel Dubois’ trickiest opponent will feature on his undercard

On the undercard for Dubois vs Usyk, Lawrence Okolie will take on South African former cruiserweight Kevin Lerena.

Lerena fought Dubois in 2022, just one fight before Dubois’ fight with Usyk in Poland.

Lerena dropped Dubois three times in the first round before being stopped by the British heavyweight.

Okolie is 1-0 as a heavyweight, having made a dominant debut after winning the bridgerweight championship.
