Elite coach Shane McGuigan believes his fighter is getting closer to a showdown with boxing’s best.
Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia have become two of the biggest names in boxing since their 2023 meeting. Now, both men have plenty of options in terms of potential opponents.
With Garcia set to return on the same card as Devin Haney, he will once again be in the boxing spotlight following his suspension.
Meanwhile, ‘Tank’ Davis will compete next in March, facing Lamont Roach.
However, with big fights potentially on the horizon for both Davis and Garcia, a British prospect could be throwing his hat in the ring soon.
Despite, Shakur Stevenson has been critical of Davis in recent weeks, ‘Tank’ could be facing the 22-year-old in the next year.

Adam Azim closing in on Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia says coach
McGuigan, coach of 12-0 prospect Adam Azim, believes that his fighter is beginning to come close to the big names in boxing.
Azim is currently preparing to fight former world champion Sergey Lipinets (18-3-1) as the two will clash in London on Saturday.
The pair will compete for the vacant IBO World Super Lightweight title, with Azim aiming to become a champion aged just 22.
Should the youngster be successful, then he may begin to look towards fellow super lightweight title holders Teofimo Lopez or Alberto Puello.
However, McGuigan feels that the big names in neighboring weight classes may also be options for Azim.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the coach said, “It’s a stacked division at 140. You’ve got Tank Davis, you’ve got Ryan Garcia, plenty of massive names and I think he’s not far off them.”
Azim has previously competed at lightweight, meaning challenging Davis for his WBA World Lightweight belt is a possibility in the future. As well as this, ‘Tank’ has also competed at 140lbs.
Shane McGuigan feels Adam Azim is Britain’s next biggest star
In the same interview with Sky Sports, McGuigan went on to explain how high he feels Azim’s ceiling is.
“I am convinced now more than ever that Adam Azim is going to be a superstar, that he’s going to be one of the best fighters that we’ve ever had.”
The top coach would also go on to predict that Azim will look “sensational” in his fight with Lipinets and will continue to impress in the next 12 months.
In his last performance, Azim defeated Ohara Davies with a round-eight knockout. the stoppage victory was Azim’s ninth of his career, and fourth in a row.
