Undefeated Mexican fighter William Zepeda had a close call in his interim world title fight.
Zepeda will look to join the likes of Salvador Sanchez and Canelo Alvarez in becoming one of the greatest Mexican fighters of all time, as he has had a promising start to his career.
With a professional record of 32-0, Zepeda has finished 27 of his victories, showing his incredible finishing ability.
However, despite his record being flawless at the time of writing, Zepeda did have to face some adversity in 2024.

William Zepeda was knocked down by Tevin Farmer in 2024
In November 2024, Zepeda sought after his 32nd win as a professional, taking on Tevin Farmer in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Farmer went into the bout with a professional record of 33-6-1 and is a previous holder of the IBF World Super Featherweight title.
The Mexican and American would fight for the WBC Interim World Lightweight title, with Farmer being a huge underdog in the bout. However, Farmer would show that the bookmaker’s odds would not represent how the fight would play out.
Zepeda would escape the bout with his undefeated record, winning via split decision. However, it was a very close affair between the two.
Two judges scored the bout 95-94 for Zepeda, while the third judge went 95-94 in favor of Farmer.
The main talking point of the fight was in round four when Zepeda was shockingly sent to the canvas by a left counter punch. However, the knockdown would not be enough to sway the judges’ decision in favor of the underdog.
William Zepeda and Tevin Farmer set to rematch in 2025
Due to the close nature of their first meeting, Zepeda and Farmer will meet for a second time on March 29th, 2025.
This time, fighting in Zepeda’s native Mexico, the unbeaten fighter will go into the bout as a sizeable favorite, however, more fans will likely give Farmer a chance following their first fight.
Zepeda will be looking to defend his WBC Interim World Lightweight title in the bout, a fight promoted by Oscar De La Hoya.
Should the Mexican be victorious, Zepeda may be a potential opponent for Keyshawn Davis, the WBO World Lightweight champion.
