Winning via majority decision, one judge scored the contest a draw before the others gave their decision in favour to Ortiz Jr.

Ortiz Jr. would take on Michael McKinson in August of 2022. As both men went into the fight undefeated, McKinson would fall to 22-1 after the bout.

In the opening eight rounds, Ortiz Jr. was clearly the fighter who was finding most of the success. Then, in round nine, Ortiz Jr. would be able to capitalise on the knockdown he scored in the previous round.

Ortiz Jr. would take on Egidijus Kavaliauskas in August of 2021 in Frisco as the American was aiming to defend his WBO International Welterweight belt.

The Lithuanian would go into the bout with a professional record of 22-1-1, however, Ortiz Jr. would hand him the second defeat of his career.

Although Ortiz Jr. would face some adversity in the bout, he would be able to emerge victorious. After four knockdowns, Kavaliauskas would go down for a final time in the closing seconds of round eight.

The referee would call off the fight as a left hook sent the Lithuanian down for the fifth time.

The win would make Ortiz Jr. a 18-0 professional.
