‘We chased the thief’… Matty Floyd ran after man who stole from a busker whose mic he was using to insult Tommy Fury

Matty Floyd went from calling out Tommy Fury, to sprinting after a thief who robbed from the busker whose microphone the fighter was using.

Throughout his time in boxing, ‘The Jedi’ has had many memorable experiences. Floyd once sparred the great Shane Mosley, and now he’s set to compete on the legend’s undercard against Armstrong Martins on July 25 at the O2 Indigo in London, UK.

The big fight is a culmination of the work that the Australian has been doing to grow his name in the UK. During a recent trip to the English capital, he borrowed a microphone from a busker and used it to call out Fury in front of a crowd of 500 people.

However, in a moment of madness, once he was done challenging the Love Island runner-up, a man stole from the busker.

After seeing what had occurred, Floyd sprang into action.

Determined to get the busker’s money back, he ran through the streets of London in pursuit of the robber.

How Matty Floyd went from being in jail reading about Liam Smith to sparring him

Many years ago, Floyd was in prison, where he had a boxing book that documented Liam Smith’s fight with Canelo Alvarez.

During his time inside, the Aussie fell deeply in love with the sport, developing an inner sense of belief that he had the skills and mentality to make a serious impact in the fight game.

In a testament to his warrior spirit, he’s made an enormous splash, winning the Australian title and defeating former two-weight world champion Sirimongkhon Iamthuam.

But in what was undoubtedly a highlight, after spending so long reading about him, Floyd finally got the opportunity to spar Smith.
