Vasiliy Lomachenko was dropped by a boxing legend in an epic fight between two pound-for-pound superstars

Vasiliy Lomachenko hit the canvas in the middle of a super fight with another boxing icon.

Throughout his career, ‘Hi-Tech’ has established his status as one of the most gifted competitors to have ever graced the squared circle, with very few fighters capable of even landing a glove on him, let alone hurting him.

After Lomachenko was beaten by Orlando Salido in his second fight, he went on a historic run, capturing world championship belts in two weight classes.

But when the icon attempted to conquer a third division in a match-up with a fellow future Hall of Famer, he had to really bite down on his gumshield to secure the victory.

Vasiliy Lomachenko got dropped by Jorge Linares

On May 12, 2018, inside Madison Square Garden, New York, USA, Vasiliy Lomachenko and Jorge Linares went to war in a showdown between two of the greatest fighters of the modern era.

In the early portion of the fight, Lomachenko utilized his superior boxing IQ to evade his opponent’s blistering shots as well as landing significant blows himself.

However, in the sixth round, Linares showed his class, landing a magnificent right hand that sent Lomachenko tumbling toward the canvas.

The stunned Ukrainian had to survive a storm as the Venezuelan piled on the pressure, connecting with heavy blows to the body.

Over the next few rounds, the classy operators exchanged leather, with the crowd in awe of the brilliance on display.

With the fight balanced on a knife’s edge, Lomachenko pulled a truly tremendous punch out of the bag, nailing Linares to the midsection.

Despite his best efforts, ‘El Niño de Oro’ could not continue, with the 2x Olympic gold medallist cementing his status as a three-weight King.

Jorge Linares wobbled Devin Haney

While Linares hasn’t rescaled the mountain since losing to Lomachenko, he’s still managed to produce moments of magic inside the ring.

When he attempted to regain his WBC title in a showdown with Devin Haney, he was given very little chance of securing the win.

After all, at the age of 35, it was fair to say the boxer’s best days were behind him.

However, in a moment that shocked the world, Linares rocked Haney to his core with a thunderous shot.
