Tyson Fury won his professional debut with a stinging body shot KO

‘The Gypsy King’ is potentially one of the best fighters to compete in the 21st century. Despite retiring, fans are still hopeful they can see the former champion perform again.

Some of the best moments from Tyson Fury’s career include his undertaker moment against Deontay Wilder and his dethroning of Wladimir Klitschko. The character has even had some notable and humorous moments outside of the ring.

Whether or not the British boxing hero does return to the ring, fans have plenty of moments they can reminisce on.

It all started for Fury in 2008, when he made his professional debut. Stepping into the ring for the first time, ‘The Gypsy King’ started as he intended to go.

Tyson Fury won his professional debut via first-round knockout

A 20-year-old Fury would step into the ring for the first time against Bela Gyongyosi (3-9-2) from Hungary. Fighting in Nottingham, the pair were on the undercard of Carl Froch vs Jean Pascal for the WBC World Middleweight title.

Despite his inexperience, Fury was seemingly not eager to get more time in the ring. Instead, Fury opted to begin his career with a quick highlight.

The opening periods of the round would see Fury pressure his opponent, with little response from the Hungarian. Then, a left shot to the body would find its way under the guard of Gyongyosi, putting him down.

The body shot caused visible pain on the face of Fury’s opponent, who was not able to continue despite returning to his feet.

The win would be the first of 27 in a row, before Fury’s first meeting with Wilder which ended in a draw.

Tyson Fury won his first seven fights by stoppage

Fury is not a heavyweight who was particularly known for his one-punch power. Instead, Fury brought a unique and stature-defying style to the heavyweight division.

Despite this, Fury was still able to notch up stoppages early on in his career. Following his first-round knockout over Gyongyosi, he would stop his next six opponents.

Starting his 2009 in January, Fury took on Marcel Zeller (21-3), defeating him via third-round TKO. Earning five more finishes in a row, John McDermott (25-5) would be the first fighter to bring Fury the distance later that year.

However, Fury would win the bout via points, as the two fought for 10 rounds.
