Tyson Fury has established his status as one of the greatest heavyweights of the 21st century.
The 36-year-old has destroyed a plethora of fantastic fighters, bamboozling them with his erratic movement. Even Eddie Chambers claimed Fury is the toughest sparring he’s ever had, during a recent insight in which he opened up about how their rounds really went.
However, while he eventually proved himself as the best in the world for a period of time, when Fury first turned professional, he wasn’t even considered the most talented fighter in his country.
That’s because David Price had beaten him handily in an amateur contest.
Prior to their bout, Fury claimed he could emerge victorious against his nemesis and take his place in the upcoming 2008 Olympics. But that’s not how it worked out.
When the pair set foot in the ring together, it was the Liverpudlian who emerged victorious and went on to win the bronze medal in Beijing.
However, that didn’t end the rivalry, with the pair expected to face each other again as professionals. When they first left the amateurs, many were predicting that Price would be the heir to the Klitschko throne.
However, after suffering several knockout defeats, the Scouser never quite reached the level he was capable of. Meanwhile, Fury exceeded what most thought was possible.
