Tyson Fury scored a thudding body shot knockout three years before becoming world champion

The ‘Gypsy King’ retired leaving boxing fans with plenty of memorable moments, both in and out of the ring.

Just some of Tyson Fury’s greatest moments include a remarkable recovery against Deontay Wilder and a title-winning game plan against Wladimir Klitschko. Although fans still question the legitimacy of Fury’s retirement, he will go down as one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.

Despite more recent outings from Fury being among the most memorable, the former champion has always performed to a high level.

This even includes a 2012 title fight that Tyson would win via technical knockout.

Tyson Fury defeated Martin Rogan with a body shot in 2012

In April 2012, a 23-year-old Fury held a professional record of 17-0, with 13 knockouts. For his next challenge, he would take on Martin Rogan (14-2) in Belfast.

The heavyweights would be scheduled for 12 rounds as they contested the Boxing Union of Ireland Heavyweight title. However, Fury would be able to add another stoppage to his record.

In the fifth round, Fury would be able to round off his performance with a finish. After catching his opponent with several stinging punches, including some winding shots to the body, Rogan would go down and out in the fifth round.

A left hand to the midsection of Rogan was seemingly one too many for the fighter, who went down after a brief moment. As the corner of Rogan called off the bout, Fury was the victor.

Tyson Fury would fight for his first world title three years after Rogan victory

Earning the 18th victory of his career against Rogan, Fury would maintain his winning habits for three years before getting a world title opportunity.

Defeating fighters such as Steve Cunningham and Derek Chisora, Fury would get the opportunity to take on Klitschko to become world champion in 2015.

Fighting in Germany, a 24-0 Fury would best the Ukrainian champion on the judges’ scorecards. The win made Fury a champion for the very first time and was the first step in an incredible run of performances.
