Tyson Fury and David Haye are two of the most popular British heavyweights of the 21st century.
The two former champions have had their fair share of fantastic performances. From Haye slaying a 7ft giant to Fury’s ‘Undertaker’ moment versus Deontay Wilder, the two men have an impressive highlight reel.
However, the two were, at one stage, meant to face one another. In 2013, the two British heavyweights were scheduled to meet in the ring.
The ‘Hayemaker’ and ‘Gypsy King’ would not however meet in the ring. Following a significant cut on the eyebrow of Haye, he was forced to withdraw from the heavyweight bout.
Although the two did not get to step in the ring with one another, fans did get some entertainment from their build-up.

David Haye and Tyson Fury had hilarious pre-fight press conference
Ahead of their scheduled heavyweight bout, both Haye and Tyson sat down with one another for a press conference to build up the fight.
The press conference would start as it would go on, with Fury interrupting Sky Sports’ Adam Smith to include the adjective ‘sexy’ into his fighter description, generating laughter from the media members in attendance.
Fury would then not respond well to comments from Haye saying he was providing him an opportunity for a good payday.
“Let’s not get things confused David, I’m chucking you a bone here. You’re the dog, and I’m chucking you a bone,” Fury said.
The ‘Gypsy King’ would continue for some time before, by the end of Fury’s lengthy response, Haye would burst out laughing, “You’ve got to love it.”
The two would continue to engage in verbal sparring throughout the press conference, with the media members often breaking into laughter, as well as Haye and Fury themselves.
Fury then capitalized on a blunder made by Haye. Describing Fury as being ‘nowhere’ in terms of his placement in the division, the ‘Gypsy King’ responded by saying, “I’m in front of you in the WBC rankings, you mug. So you must be even [more] nowhere, are you?”
Fury then drew more laughter from the crowd, as he commented on the hairstyle and outfit choice of Haye, “You look like a Cambridge boy… Very nice.”
Tyson Fury said he would never fight David Haye following fight withdrawal
Following the withdrawal of Haye from the all-British fight, the bout was not rescheduled and did not come to fruition.
Speaking to the BBC in 2015 ahead of the ‘Gypsy King’s’ fight against Wladimir Klitschko, Fury said he would never fight Haye.
He said that the canceled bout caused him “mental and physical torture” before saying he would never accept another opportunity to fight Haye. “David Haye will never get a fight against Tyson Fury after what he did to me.”
The ‘Gypsy King’ would even add that he would vacate a heavyweight world title if Haye were made the mandatory challenger.
