Tommy Fury’s next opponent went from being in a gang to turning life around and competing on KSI vs Dillon Danis card

Matty Floyd has gone on an incredible journey from being in prison to potentially fighting Tommy Fury at Misfits 21.

The Australian boxer has gone through wars both inside and outside of the ring, and come away from the experience willing to do whatever it takes to help those who need it.

Having compiled a record of 15-0 (1 No Contest), the 35-year-old is now on the cusp of the biggest night of his career, with the athlete excited to take the KSI vs Dillon Danis undercard on March 29, at the Manchester Arena, UK, by storm.

And it’s fair to say the power puncher is going to relentlessly trash-talk until the fight gets made, even going as far as texting the Love Island runner-up’s friends.

Matty Floyd says he’s too powerful for Tommy Fury

Matty ‘The Jedi’ Floyd, who compares his boxing prowess to that of Star Wars fan favorite, Mace Windu, has developed a big reputation in his homeland, stunning crowds with his impressive performances.

Having picked up big wins across Thailand and Indonesia, Floyd is ready to test himself against Tommy Fury.

While the Brit is undefeated, the Aussie is confident he has more than what it takes to upset the apple cart.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Knockout, Floyd explained: “I’ll break anybody down; boxers don’t know how to fight me. No one can prepare for me or train for me; it’s impossible.

“I fight awkwardly. I’m very aggressive, and I’m far too powerful for my weight. I’ve got the power of a cruiserweight and a heavyweight at light heavyweight, and I know how to use it now.

“I’m going to come forward relentlessly, and there’s nothing he can do. I doubt most boxers would be able to do much.”

Matty Floyd does everything he can to help the next generation

While Floyd has achieved so much inside the squared circle, his biggest accomplishments have come outside of competition, with the fighter showcasing his remarkable heart, by going above and beyond to help young people stay on the right path, offering them an opportunity to get involved with boxing, and even giving them a place to stay if they need it.

He explained: “It’s not hard for me, because I think about it like, ‘What did I need’? I’ve had a few gyms where I’ve taken in people.

“One of my boys, I took him in when he was 16, and he’d been in rehab ten times. His mum said, ‘You need to take him’. His name is Joel Lewis, he’s Australian champion now.

“I said, if you f— around, you know what’s going to happen, and he’s been good ever since.

“It’s something I’ve always done, but I can give them so much stability now because the gym is their base. I try and take them off the street. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve gotten better at trying to help.

“I’ve always tried to be a father figure, because I never had a father figure, it’s maybe like I’m healing.

“It’s a pay-it-forward thing. Joel runs the gym now, and if the boys play up, he’ll get a phone call and run and grab them, so he does what I used to do.

“Hopefully, they’ll do it for their little brothers. It’s like a community. We put them in beds and in houses. They can come and live with me, sometimes I have ten people living with me or at the gym.”
