Gervonta Davis has established himself as one of the very best pound-for-pound boxers on the planet in the 21st century.
Davis’ skills inside the ring cannot be questioned, as the champion currently boasts a professional record of 30-0. Among those 30 wins, 28 have come by way of knockout.
Since becoming champion in a title fight that Davis felt set up by Floyd Mayweather in, no one has been able to remove him from the top of the division.
His impressive career has seen him take on and defeat the likes of Isaac Cruz, Rolando Romero, and Ryan Garcia.
However, Davis is only still an active fighter thanks to a lucky escape from a horrible accident.

Gervonta Davis survived plane incident that could have ended his career
In 2021, ‘Tank’ Davis’ life could have been completely turned upside down when he was involved in a plane accident.
Traveling with friends and family on a private aircraft, the plane quickly crashed before even fully coming off the ground.
Following the incident, Davis went live on Instagram, providing footage of the scene. “The plane crashed… The plane didn’t even take off. It took off, but it didn’t take off. Oh my god,” Davis said on the livestream.
Showing the plane on the live stream, the aircraft was nose-down in the grass with firemen attending to the situation.
In an interview with Complex, Davis provided more details of the crash. “The plane was taking off and something hit the front wheel of the plane supposedly… It knocked the whole wheel off the front of the plane, right before we were taking off.”
‘Tank’ added, “We probably slid for probably like two or three football fields [in length].”
“I’m good now we survived. It could’ve gone bad. Thank god we’re here.”
Gervonta Davis would earn five wins following plane crash
Although things could have gone a lot differently for Davis in the plane crash, thankfully the fighter and those he was traveling with were unscathed.
The crash seemingly did not disrupt the form of the fighter either. Following his crash in August 2021, he would go on to defeat Cruz in Los Angeles four months later.
Other wins after the crash include Rolando Romero, Hector Luis Garcia, and Frank Martin.
Davis’ run of wins post-crash also included a knockout win over Garcia, where ‘Tank’ asked for a surprising pre-fight snack.
Davis will now aim to add another win to his record on March 1st, as he prepares to take on Lamont Roach (25-1-1) in New York on March 1st.
