Ryan Garcia’s three-punch combo knockout in 2022 set up his huge fight with Gervonta Davis

Ryan Garcia is one of the most popular fights in boxing today, thanks to his exciting style and big personality.

Best known for his rivalry with Devin Haney, Garcia will return to the ring in May 2025. Taking on Rolando Romero (16-2), the two will compete at Times Square in New York City.

Garcia will share the card with rival Haney, as a rematch between the two is planned down the line.

‘King Ry’ goes into the bout with a 24-1 record. His sole loss came when he faced Gervonta Davis in 2023. To set up the mega-fight, Garcia had an incredible knockout.

Ryan Garcia defeated Javier Fortuna via sixth-round knockout in 2022

After winning his 20th and 21st fights earlier in 2022, Garcia would be paired up with former world champion Javier Fortuna (37-3-1) from the Dominican Republic. The pair would meet in California in July.

Despite the veteran Fortuna’s experience, it was a one-sided performance from Garcia. Catching Fortuna with several blows in the fight, Garcia was the faster and sharper boxer.

In the fourth round, a body shot from Garcia would send Fortuna to the canvas. Then, in the fifth round, Fortuna would once again hit the floor.

The sixth round would be the final round of the bout. In the opening sequence, an electric three-punch combination would find the mark for Garcia.

Following a one-two combination, a left hook snuck around the guard of Fortuna. The former world champion would go down, not returning to his feet to continue the bout.

The knockout was the 19th of Garcia’s career, as his record became 23-0. However, he would suffer his first loss to Davis the following year.

Gervonta Davis handed Ryan Garcia his first professional loss

Garcia would meet Davis in April 2023 following his knockout over Fortuna. The pair would fight in Las Vegas in a non-title bout.

‘Tank’ went into the bout with a 28-0 record, having defeated Hector Luis Garcia in his last fight.

A body shot in the seventh round would end Garcia’s unbeaten streak. As Davis led the bout, he was able to find the finish to stop his rival.

He would go on to defeat Frank Martin in 2024 before Davis drew with Lamont Roach in 2025. As for Garcia, he bounced back from the loss with a knockout over Oscar Duarte Jurado.
