Quotes about Ryan Garcia

Eddie Hearn recently said in a recent interview with The Stomping Ground: “I am getting so sick of Ryan Garcia.

“He’s not doing himself any favours. It really aggravates me that nobody close to him is getting hold of him.

“When he came out after the (Haney) fight and said, ‘I tricked you all with that behaviour, back to normal now.’ Absolutely not, in fact he’s worse.”

Former opponent Gervonta Davis said on Fight Hype TV: “I’m backing Ryan because a lot of boxers are going at him.

“It takes 72 hours for a test to come back, so why didn’t it come out that Tuesday or that week?

“Then it came out on Canelo fight week and Devin Haney was on ESPN that night, it’s all in on it I’m telling you.”

Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia

Garcia’s rivalry with Haney started during the pair’s time as amateur boxers, they fought each other six times, winning three each.

The pair turned professional and a fight against the two fierce rivals was always teased but finally happened in April 2024.

The fight was made for Haney’s WBC super lightweight title but the challenger weighed in three pounds over the limit.

The fighters decided to continue with the contest after Garcia agreed to pay a $1.5million penalty.

The bout turned out to be one of the fights of the year and the underdog challenger dropped Haney three times on his way to victory.

It was later revealed Garcia had failed two drug tests leading up to the fight and the result was ruled a no contest.

Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia

Ryan Garcia signed to face one of boxing’s biggest stars in Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis back in April 2023.

The fight was one of the biggest events of the year and reportedly earned both fighters a over $40million each.

The contest was set at a 136-pound catchweight limit and Garcia looked weakened and drained by the weight cut.

The smaller Davis dropped Garcia, who was eventually counted out by the referee after a shot to the ribs meant he could not continue.

Garcia has been campaigning for a rematch at a more natural weight of 140 pounds ever since and blames the weight cut for the loss.

Ryan Garcia vs Oscar Duarte

Ryan Garcia faced Oscar Duarte in a comeback fight after his loss to Gervonta Davis.

Garcia looked back to his best after a move up in weight to super lightweight and stopped Duarte in the eighth round.

The American then faced Haney shortly afterwards in one of the most controversial fights of recent times.

Ryan Garcia’s back tattoo

Garcia is known for his impressive ink, which include an elaborate full back tattoo. It includes the words “shock the world”, as well as a sword going through two crowns – one large and one smaller.

He told K.O Artist Sports that the crowns on his back represent Jesus, and the sword show he is a “craftsman” in the boxing ring.

“Shock the world. The first crowd in Jesus, the King of Kings. I’m just a little king. I hold a sword because Garcia means master of the spear, master of the sword. I’m a craftsman when I shoot. I don’t miss.”
