Paul Gallen shocked the world when he annihilated a former heavyweight world champion.
After carving out a fantastic NRL career with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, the natural athlete transitioned to boxing.
Initially, his career wasn’t taken overly seriously, with the Australian just beating up journeyman and other rugby players.
However, after beating former kickboxing world champion and UFC veteran, Mark Hunt, people started to realize he was pretty good at hand-to-hand combat. But despite this, very few gave him a chance when he agreed to face a former WBA King.

Paul Gallen destroyed Lucas Browne in a shocking upset
On April 21, 2021, Paul Gallen entered the ring with 6ft5 monster, Lucas Browne, inside the Win Entertainment Centre in Wollongong, Australia.
While significantly past his best, ‘Big Daddy’ was revered as one of the biggest punchers on the planet, and had previously traveled to Russia to relieve Ruslan Chagaev of his championship belt.
Therefore, when he received the opportunity to face the ex-rugby player, many suspected that it would be an easy night’s work. But the reality turned out to be anything but.
Less than a minute into the bout, Gallen cracked Browne with a right hand that left him on wobbly legs.
Sensing the upset was possible, the Sharks’ star threw a combination with all his might, sending his rival crashing towards the canvas.
Browne quickly got back to his feet and engaged in a firefight, with Gallen getting the better of it. Controversially, as well as legal blows, the underdog landed several behind-the-head shots, that left his opponent in a state of disarray.
The favorite hit the floor again, and this time the referee had seen enough, calling a halt to the action.
Lucas Browne says one person hit him harder than Tyson Fury
While Gallen hit Browne hard, the now-retired boxer had shared the ring with heavier hitters than him.
He’d sparred with Tyson Fury and shared six brutal rounds with Dillian Whyte en route to being knocked out.
However, neither of those men cracked him with the most venom.
In a fascinating interview, Browne revealed the identity of the man who punched him the hardest.
