On December 19, 1997, Prince Naseem Hamed went to war with Kevin Kelley inside Madison Square Garden, New York, USA.

The Englishman started well, backing his rival into the corner. But then, in a moment that stunned the crowd, Kelley detonated a leaping left hook that sent his opponent crashing towards the ground.

With the momentum on his side, at the beginning of the second round, the American landed another solid shot, which resulted in Hamed’s gloves touching the floor.

Believing the end was close, Kelley began to swing wildly and got caught by a big right hand that put him on the canvas for the first time in the fight.

Following a cautious third segment from both men, the brawl reignited in the fourth, with Hamed scoring his second knockdown.

This time, it was the Sheffield boxer who attempted to close the show, but in the process was caught and dropped for the third time.

As Kelley rolled the dice, Hamed connected with a thunderous left that sent his adversary spiralling towards the canvas and ultimately ended the contest.
