Oleksandr Usyk threatened to take Wladimir Klitschko’s heavyweight title the year he turned pro

Oleksandr Usyk will fight to become a three-time undisputed world champion this summer as he rematches Daniel Dubois.

Oleksandr Usyk is, for many, the top pound-for-pound fighter active right now, having defeated Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury twice, as well as names like Tony Bellew, Murat Gassiev, Mairis Briedis, and many more.

The Ukrainian went from becoming an undisputed cruiserweight champion to becoming the first undisputed heavyweight since Lennox Lewis, and he hopes to cement himself and dispel any low-blow controversy as he takes on Daniel Dubois to become undisputed for a second time.

Long before these accolades, though, Usyk was a stellar amateur, and it seems even before he turned pro he had his sights set on the heavyweight championship.

Oleksandr Usyk told Klitschko live on TV that he would take his belt

In a clip from Ukrainian television that’s going viral on social media, Usyk appeared alongside both Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko to discuss boxing.

Both Klitschkos were reigning champions at the time, as the interview occurred in 2013, the same year Usyk, who beat Michael Hunter, turned pro.

In the clip, Usyk can be seen stating: “You will be leaving and leaving your belt, or I will have to get in the ring.”

Wladimir did not take the threat personally, and responded: “This guy, the Olympic champion, Oleksandr Usyk, I like him, despite everything.”

Usyk made the Klitschkos, his countrymen, proud as he became the undisputed heavyweight world champion against Fury, who defeated Klitschko.

Oleksandr Usyk shares interesting footage as he prepares for Daniel Dubois rematch

Usyk’s next fight will take place in Wembley Stadium in July, and will see Usyk attempt to do the double on yet another Brit.

Ahead of the fight, footage of Usyk dancing in training has gone viral, with his first fight with Dubois clearly playing on a television in the background. Dubois vows to get revenge, though Tony Bellew believes Usyk will KO Dubois.
