Muhammad Ali is not the only member of his family to have success inside of the ring.
Although it is not uncommon for a top-class boxer’s child to put on their own gloves, very few can replicate the success of their parent.
Being one of the best heavyweights of all time, it would be hard for any child of Ali to live up to the standards of ‘The Greatest’. However, his daughter Laila had an incredible career.
Ending her career undefeated, the second half of her career was filled with stoppages.
Laila Ali had a 24-0 record with 21 stoppages
Laila Ali is one of Muhammad’s nine children and a former professional boxer. Making her debut in 1999, she was 21 years old the first time she stepped in the ring.
Ali started as she meant to go on, winning her debut via first-round knockout. It would be the first of 21 stoppages for ‘She Bee Stingin”, as she had a knockout rate of 87.5%.
To improve her finishing percentage, Ali went on an incredible 13-fight run to end her career where she stopped all of her opponents.
The streak began in August 2002, when Ali claimed the inaugural female IBA World Super Middleweight title as she defeated Suzette Taylor via second-round TKO.
Ali would retain the title four times via finish, as well as picking up the WIBF and WIBA titles in the process.
The champion would continue her finishing streak until her final outing in 2007. Fighting in South Africa, Ali retained her WIBA and WBC World Super Middleweight titles against Gwendolyn O’Neil. She defeated the 12-4-1 fighter via first-round TKO.

Laila Ali has a rivalry with current champion Claressa Shields
Although Ali hung up her gloves in 2007, there have been rumors of her returning to the ring since then. Most recently, a huge fight between her and Claressa Shields has been mentioned.
Despite the two having been close in the past, recent years have seen them develop a rivalry.
This led to discussions regarding a fight between the pair, in what Ali described as ‘The biggest fight in women’s boxing,’ on The Art of Ward. However, at the time of writing in 2025, no concrete plans for the two women to fight have been made.
Although Shields is coming off of an impressive world title win, Ali is currently 47 years of age and hasn’t competed professionally in almost two decades. This had led Shields to eye other potential opponents.
