Floyd Mayweather is widely known as one of the best to ever lace up the gloves, partly owing to his fighting family, though it seems ‘Pretty Boy’ far exceeded the abilities of those around him.
Mayweather retired with a record of 50-0, though continues to fight in exhibitions against the likes of Logan Paul, John Gotti III (son of the infamous gangster), and more.
Mayweather’s father also boasted an impressive record, though not quite perfect, with 28 wins and 6 losses.
His uncle had almost as many fights as Floyd, though retired with a handful of 5 draws and 10 losses, one of which came at the hands of a man who would face his nephew many years later.

‘Golden Boy’ stopped Floyd Mayweather’s uncle in his fifth fight
In 1993, in only his fifth fight, Oscar De La Hoya, one of the greatest amateurs ever, fought Jeff Mayweather, a then 23-2-2 professional.
Mayweather had lost one fight by majority decision and another by eighth-round knockout, though it was the 4-0 De La Hoya who would become the only other man to finish him, and the fastest.
De La Hoya stopped Mayweather in the fourth round, setting the legend’s uncle on a three-fight losing streak before returning to winning ways.
14 years later, De La Hoya, who warned Devin Haney won’t recover from Ryan Garcia loss, faced Floyd Mayweather himself, in 2007, when he fought to defend his WBC super welterweight title.
The ‘Golden Boy’ lost on a split decision in a closely-contested fight, and Floyd avenged his uncle’s defeat.
Floyd Mayweather’s father believed Oscar De La Hoya won the fight
In an appearance on ‘Undeniable with Dan Patrick’, De La Hoya spoke on his close fight with Mayweather, who frustrated Ricky Hatton by wearing a Man Utd. shirt.
He said: “I just felt I [won]. I mean, it’s one of those fights where it could’ve gone either way. […] I felt I did enough but I understood.”
However, he did say that there was one person who believed he won, Mayweather’s own father. De La Hoya has also praised Mayweather, who dethroned Arturo Gatti years earlier.
Patrick said: “Your sister said that Floyd Sr. went up to her after the fight and said you won.”
De La Hoya said: “Floyd Sr. is a very honest individual and I mean I guess he said yeah your brother won.”
