Matty Floyd had a remarkable experience sparring with Shane Mosley.
When he was just a teenager, ‘The Jedi’ had the honor of going toe-to-toe with one of the greatest of all time.
Now, in a remarkable sequence of events, at the age of 36, Floyd will have the opportunity to compete on the former world champion’s undercard.
On July 25, at the O2 Indigo in London, UK, the Australian will battle it out with Armstrong Martins right before Mosley returns to the ring to face David Kurzhal.
WOW: Floyd Mayweather got rocked when Shane Mosley nailed him with a thunderous shot

Matty Floyd loved sparring Shane Mosley
In his professional career, Matty Floyd has proven his fighting spirit beyond doubt, travelling to Turkey to beat former two-weight world champion Sirimongkhon Iamthuam and overcoming Tangiariki Mauri to win the Australian light heavyweight title.
Along his journey, he’s trained with an array of top fighters. Floyd has sparred Lucas Browne extensively, and even traded leather with Liam Smith.
However, nothing will ever compare to the time he set foot inside the squared circle with the legendary Shane Mosley, which set in motion a sequence of events that’s about to culminate in Floyd sharing the bill with his hero.
In an exclusive interview with Bloody Knockout, the warrior beamed: “He was the first boxing superstar that I saw in person. I got to watch him spar 15 years ago, and I asked to jump in, so it’s surreal.
“I was only young then, and there were about four or five people who got to jump in there and do rounds.
“I was only a teenager at the time. When he did the first few rounds, it was serious, and then at the end, he let a few boys jump in with him for a bit of fun.”
Matty Floyd isn’t concerned by what Armstrong Martins is bringing to the table
Floyd is set to return to action on Sunday evening against Jack Gregory, on the undercard of Jai Opetaia vs Claudio Squeo at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia.
Just over a month later, he’ll be back in action against Armstrong Martins, who hasn’t held back from firing verbal shots.
However, Floyd hasn’t let the Englishman’s trash-talk get in his head.
The Aussie explained: “He’s from the X Factor, and he’s had a few fights now, and he definitely thinks he’s got what it takes. But I’m obviously not worried.”
