Manny Pacquiao had his debut months before his comeback opponent was even born over 30 years ago

Manny Pacquiao is returning to the ring this July at the age of 46, having not fought for four years.

Manny Pacquiao has not fought for four years, with his last fight coming in 2021 against Yordenis Ugas, who defeated Pacquiao by unanimous decision.

Pacquiao’s unsuccessful comeback came two years after a win over Keith Thurman, the last win of his career, in 2019.

With his last win being six years ago, and his old age in terms of competing as a boxer, some fans fear for Pacquiao’s safety against the younger opponent, a man who was only just born months after Pacquiao had begun his career.

Manny Pacquiao had his first fight over three months before Mario Barrios was born

Pacquiao’s next opponent, Mario Barrios, was born on the 18th of May 1995, three months and 26 days after Pacquiao’s first fight.

Pacquiao has had a long career, spanning 30 years now, and has over twice the amount of fights as Barrios.

He has more KO victories than Barrios has fights, but his high mileage could be his downfall against the fresher fighter.

Barrios has lost to Gervonta Davis and Thurman, who Pacquiao beat, but beat Ugas, who Pacquiao lost to.

Two big rematches land on the Pacquiao vs Barrios card

On the undercard, Tim Tszyu will seek to settle the score against Sebastian Fundora, after a nasty cut impaired his work in the first fight, causing the Aussie to drop a split decision loss.

Also on the card, Isaac Cruz will face Angel Fierro for the second time, having defeated him by unanimous decision in their first fight.
