Luis Ortiz became ‘The Boogeyman’ of the heavyweight division by knocking out a former world title challenger

Luis Ortiz sent shockwaves through the heavyweight division by destroying a former world title challenger.

When ‘King Kong’ set foot inside the ring against Deontay Wilder, he was considered ‘The Boogeyman’ of the weight class, with very few volunteering to fight him.

That was because of an array of tremendous performances, including a win over a respected practitioner of the sweet science.

This boxer had gone the distance with Wladimir Klitschko, but couldn’t stand up to the firepower of the Cuban sensation.

Luis Ortiz dominated Bryant Jennings in a ruthless performance

On December 19, 2015, Luis Ortiz went to war with Bryant Jennings, inside the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York, USA.

The fight marked a huge step-up in competition for the prospect, with his American foe having taken one of the greatest heavyweights of all time the full twelve rounds.

The early portion of the bout was electric, with the two gifted fighters trading punches in a bout that entertained the crowd.

However, in the fifth segment, Ortiz began to take over, with the powerhouse landing several shots that hurt his opponent

In round seven, Ortiz detonated a thunderous left uppercut that sent Jennings crashing towards the floor.

Bravely, the Philadelphian got back to his feet, but after two final shots sent him sagging into the ropes, the referee jumped in.

Dillian Whyte beat opponent quicker than Luis Ortiz

While Ortiz undeniably outperformed Klitschko against Jennings, he doesn’t always have the bragging rights in these scenarios.

Several years after going the distance with a boxer who’s fought some of the best in the business, his old foe was stopped in three by one of the hardest punchers in the sport.

In a destructive performance, Dillian Whyte finished a former Ortiz opponent with ease.
