Logan Paul lost his professional boxing debut due to a controversial point deduction

Logan Paul has made a name for himself in the world of combat sports as the YouTuber and his brother have come into boxing and professional wrestling.

Although Jake Paul has been the primary boxer of the family, while Logan has earned his trade in the WWE, both men have stepped in the ring throughout their rise to fame.

Logan Paul would first step in the ring in August of 2018, when he took on fellow internet star Olajide Olatunji, better known as KSI. The match was considered an exhibition, as the two met in Manchester, England.

However, the match would end in a majority draw, setting up a rematch between the two influencers. A year later, Paul and KSI would rematch in a professional fight.

Logan Paul vs KSI II ended in controversy

In November of 2019, YouTube rivals Paul and KSI would meet for a second time, this time, in a professionally sanctioned bout.

Fighting in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, the undercard of the rematch included names such as Devin Haney and Billie Joe Saunders.

In the third round of the fight, the first piece of controversy occurred. KSI seemingly knocked down Paul, however, the referee declared it a slip.

In the fourth round of the fight, it would be KSI who hit the canvas. An uppercut from the American seemingly put his opponent down and although the knockdown would be scored, Paul would face a point deduction.

Paul was deemed to have grabbed the back of his opponent’s head before striking him on the ground, resulting in a two-point deduction.

The fight would end up going the distance, with the point deduction playing an influential role.

KSI would win the bout via split decision, making Paul’s professional boxing record 0-1. However, in the aftermath of the fight, Paul protested his two-point deduction, claiming a single point should have been taken instead.

Had a single point been taken, the bout would have ended in another draw.

Logan Paul would go on to have boxing matches with Floyd Mayweather, Dillon Danis

Following his loss to KSI, Paul would continue to step into the boxing ring.

In 2021, two years after his professional debut, Paul would fight Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout. In his post-professional career, ‘Money’ has fought in 7 non-professional fights, which has led to Eddie Hearn criticizing Mayweather for the exhibition bouts.

However, no winner of the Paul vs Mayweather fight would be announced, due to the bout being contested without judges.

In 2023, Paul would face MMA fighter Dillon Danis in another exhibition bout. However, this time the YouTuber would get the win, as Danis was disqualified from his fight with Paul.
