Legendary boxing coach revealed what Mike Tyson’s best knockout was

The catalogue of knockouts that Mike Tyson possesses is truly one of a kind, as he had a stopping power like no other.

From Tyson starting his career with a knockout streak to dispatching top opponents as a champion, there will likely never be a fighter like ‘Iron Mike’.

Retiring with a professional record of 50-7 after returning to face Jake Paul in 2024, 88% of Tyson’s wins came by way of knockdown. His last finish victory was thanks to a punch that Freddie Roach helped fix against Clifford Etienne in 2003.

However, another legendary coach has revealed what he feels his best knockout was.

Teddy Atlas says Mike Tyson’s best knockout was over Trevor Berbick

Speaking on his YouTube channel, THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas, the host gave his opinion on what the greatest knockout of Tyson’s career was.

Teddy Atlas said that Tyson’s win over Trevor Berbick was the best. As he was ranking the greatest boxing knockouts of all time, Tyson’s highest ranking finish was the number five choice on his list.

Atlas said he chose the finish due to the casualness of Tyson throwing the finishing blow. “It don’t even look like nothing.”

“One of the signs of a great punch is that it doesn’t even look like anything.”

Mike Tyson knocked out Trevor Berbick to become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time

Not only is Tyson’s knockout of Berbick considered to be his best by Atlas, but it is also a history-making stoppage.

Tyson fought Berbick in Las Vegas in November 1986. Aged 20, the finish from ‘Iron Mike’ would make him the youngest-ever heavyweight champion.

Knocking Berbick down for a second time with a left hook in round two, he left the champion on unstable legs. Attempting to return to action, the referee waved off the bout.

Tyson would hold the world title until 1990, when he suffered a controversial loss to James ‘Buster’ Douglas.
