Lauren Price will take on Natasha Jonas as the two champions come together in London on Saturday night.
Price will put her IBO World Welterweight title on the line when she faces Jonas. Meanwhile, Jonas’ IBF and WBC World Welterweight titles will be on the line.
Jonas will go into the bout with a 16-2-1 record, as the 40-year-old aims to make her third defense of her IBF belt and second of her WBC title. However, Jonas’ coach believes retirement is near despite Mikaela Mayer also wanting to fight ‘Miss GB‘.
As for Price, her 8-0 undefeated record will be on the line as the Welsh fighter looks to make it nine wins in a row.
Last time out, Price had one of the more impressive performances of her career when she fought in Liverpool.
Lauren Price defended her world title against Bexcy Mateus
In December 2024, Price would take on undefeated Bexcy Mateus (7-0) to defend her IBO World Welterweight title as the two met in the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool.
Columbian Mateus had finished all but one of her opponents to earn the title opportunity, however, she would come up short in the UK.
In the closing seconds of the first round, a hard left hand from the champion would put the challenger down.
However, things would not get better for Mateus. In the final minute of round two, the same punch would see the Columbian hit the canvas again.
The third round would see the final blow of the fight. Again, a straight left hand from Price would put down her opponent, with the referee immediately waving off the bout.
Lauren Price is Wales’ first female world champion
Price got her first world title opportunity after just six fights and less than one year after making her debut.
Despite her inexperience, Price was able to get the better of Jessica McCaskill when the two met in Cardiff, winning a technical decision.
Not only would the win make Price a champion for the first time, but also the first women’s world title holder from Wales, winning the crown in her home country.
Her victory would make her the WBA, IBO, and Ring Magazine champion, as she said “I believe this is just the start,” in her post-fight interview.
