Women’s boxing legend Katie Taylor has truly elevated the sport with her dominance and prolific performances.
The Irish star has been involved in notable bouts throughout her career. This included Taylor’s homecoming getting spoiled before earning revenge on her opponent.
Set to take on Amanda Serrano for the third time, the pair will meet in Madison Square Garden on July 11th, 2025. Both Taylor and Serrano will compete for the undisputed super lightweight title, as the Irish fighter will aim to defend her crown.
The two share the biggest rivalry in women’s boxing. However, to kick it all off, the two had a historic night in New York in April 2022.

Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano met for the first time in 2022
On April 30th, 2022, Taylor and Serrano would meet for the first time in New York. In a headline bout at Madison Square Garden, they became the first women to ever headline the iconic venue.
Taylor went into the fight as an undefeated, undisputed world champion. When she faced Serrano, the WBO, WBA, WBC, and IBF World Lightweight titles were on the line.
As for Serrano, she went into the bout as a unified featherweight champion, looking to dethrone her then-future rival. However, despite Serrano scoring first-round knockouts in the past, she could not get the better of Taylor.
In what is considered one of the greatest fights of all time, and one of Eddie Hearn’s favorite bouts, the two women went to war in their headline bout.
Despite there being no knockdowns in the bout, both fighters threw with intention across 10 rounds, each boasting their own moments of success.
The back-and-forth brawl would end in a split decision. With two judges favoring the champion, Taylor would maintain her unbeaten record.
As for Serrano, the Puerto Rican’s record fell to 42-2-1.
Katie Taylor rematched Amanda Serrano in November 2024
Even though their first meeting was a close affair, the two champions would not have an immediate rematch. Taylor went on to have a fight series with Chantelle Cameron, while Serrano picked up a further five wins.
In November 2024, they would meet for the second time. Acting as the co-main event to Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson, they would compete for Taylor’s undisputed super lightweight title.
Despite it being another epic and close affair, Serrano would be no more fortunate in their second meeting. This time with a unanimous decision, Taylor retained her titles.
Their rivalry will come to an end in July 2025, as Taylor and Serrano will return to where it all started. Fighting in Madison Square Garden, Taylor will be aiming to once again retain her undisputed status.
