Josh Taylor produced a tremendous knockout against a fighter renowned for his explosive power.
At his best, ‘The Tartan Tornado’ was a tremendous competitor, capable of grinding his opponents down under unrelenting waves of pressure.
While not typically revered as a one-punch knockout artist, Taylor certainly knew how to sit down on his punches when needed.
And within three minutes of his clash with a thunderous puncher, he closed the show with an impressive hook to the midsection.

Josh Taylor knocked out Apinun Khongsong with a brutal body shot
On September 26, 2020, Josh Taylor put his WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine titles on the line against Apinun Khongsong at York Hall, London, UK.
Going into the fight, the Thai was considered a colossal threat, having compiled a 16-0 record, with 13 knockouts.
Knowing his opponent was so heavy-handed, Taylor was locked in and ready to produce a statement performance.
Unsurprisingly, Khongsong attempted to throw his big right hand early, but the Scotsman comfortably evaded the shot.
As the round rolled on, Taylor began firing straight punches downstairs, while his rival’s haymaker flew narrowly over his head.
With the opening segment almost over, the champion unleashed a thunderous shot to the body, dropping Khongsong to the canvas.
In sheer agony, the away fighter couldn’t beat the count, and the champion retained his titles.
Josh Taylor returns to the ring against Ekow Essuman
Taylor quickly followed up his win over Khongsong by defeating Jose Ramirez to become the undisputed super lightweight world champion.
However, his career then began to spiral downhill, with the athlete’s subsequent victory coming under incredibly controversial circumstances, with very few believing he even came close to beating Jack Catterall.
He then lost comprehensively to Teofimo Lopez, before falling short in the eyes of many, for a second time, in the rematch with his English rival.
Tomorrow night, Taylor aims to make a triumphant return when he goes to war with Ekow Essuman at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.
