Johnny Fisher overcame horror cut to go the distance for the first time years before Dave Allen clash

Johnny Fisher seeks to remove all doubt as he is set to embark on a rematch of epic proportions against Dave Allen next month.

Johnny Fisher controversially rose to 13-0 in his latest fight against seasoned veteran Dave ‘The White Rhino’ Allen, who has before faced.

Many believe Allen was the rightful winner after an impressive performance in which he dropped Fisher and took him the distance for the second time in his career.

The first time was three years ago, when a horror cut made his night far more difficult than it might’ve been.

Johnny Fisher proves his mettle as he secures decision win after first-round cut

In his fifth fight, Fisher faced a trial by fire, as he was cut over the left eye in the very first round.

Cuts are not uncommon in boxing, and most fighters have or will experience them at some point in their careers, though in just his fifth fight, Fisher had not experienced this before, and was forced to overcome the obstacle to go the distance for the first time in his second scheduled six-round contest.

The win came against 10-11 Gabriel Enguema at the iconic London venue of Alexandra Palace.

The pair fought on the undercard of John Ryder vs Daniel Jacobs, in which Ryder won by controversial points decision.

Johnny Fisher sparred Dave Allen very early in his career

Fisher spoke to Castillo on One on One Boxing about his time sparring Allen, who spars Pat Brown, as a youngster. Castillo asked him:

“[Allen] said when he sparred you before he slumped you.”

Fisher replied: “He didn’t slump me. He probably battered me but I didn’t go down and I was 18 or 19 at the time.”

The spar happened in 2019 ahead of Allen’s win over Lucas Browne. Allen and Fisher will rematch on May 17th.
