John Fury got devastatingly knocked out by a fighter with 19-23 record in a shocking upset

John Fury was knocked out after failing to beat the referee’s count after taking a monstrous right hand.

In his own boxing career, the Englishman compiled an 8-4-1 record, developing a reputation for his aggressive style inside the ring.

However, he’s much more renowned for being the dad to former world champion Tyson Fury, whom he helped guide on his road to success. Together, the father and son duo have had many an epic moment.

While ‘Gypsy John’ wasn’t there the night Fury climbed off the canvas to beat Steve Cunningham, or any of the times he faced off with Deontay Wilder, he always played a crucial role in camp, helping prepare the legend for his biggest fights.

John Fury was brutally knocked out by Steve Garber

While John Fury never reached the dazzling heights his son did, he still had his fair share of epic contests.

After losing in his first outing, the boxer won eight of his next ten match-ups, suffering just one loss, with his other fight ending in a draw.

However, his twelfth bout ended in disaster when Henry Akinwande knocked him out inside of just three rounds.

Knowing his career was on the line, Fury attempted to take an easy rebuilding fight against Steve Garber, a boxer he’d beaten in the past and who had a 19-23 record.

Alas, things went terribly wrong. On June 10, 1995, inside the G-Mex Centre in Manchester, UK, Garber unleashed a dynamite punch in the fourth round that sent the favorite tumbling toward the canvas.

Despite Fury’s best efforts, he couldn’t beat the ten count, and with that, it wasn’t just the end of the fight, but his entire career.

Hughie Fury finally ended the feud with the Garber family

With Fury and Garber finishing their rivalry with a victory a piece, on April 4, 2025, it was up to the next generation to bring an end to the feud.

John’s nephew, Hughie Fury, and Steve’s son, Dan Garber, went to war inside York Hall in London, UK.

And it didn’t take long for one boxer to prove himself as the better fighter.

In the fifth round, ‘Fists of Fury’ stopped his opponent, to end the rivalry between the families once and for all.
