Joe Frazier dropped Jerry Quarry with a body shot, en route to knockout win

After securing a stoppage in their first contest at the end of the seventh round, Joe Frazier was intent on doing the double over Jerry Quarry.

The pair met in a showdown for the NYSAC heavyweight title on June 17, 1974 inside Madison Square Garden, New York, USA.

Frazier came out quickly, landing thudding blows on his rival, rocking him at the end of the opening round.

In the fourth, the all-time great detonated a thunderous left hook to the body to send his opponent crashing towards the canvas.

While Quarry bravely got back to his feet, the beating continued into the fifth, with the referee stopping the action.

Joe Frazier got revenge against a fighter who beat him twice

While Frazier went into his rematch with Quarry already 1-0 up, on one occasion he had to face a man who’d already beaten him twice.

While taking on an opponent who’d conquered him in the past would’ve been tough for most to overcome, the warrior was more determined than ever to get the job done.

And it showed in his performance.

In a tremendous display, Frazier got revenge over his rival.
