Jermell Charlo is known for becoming the undisputed super-welterweight champion, but his career has not been all smooth sailing, with two losses and one draw, Charlo has met some tough opposition.
Jermell Charlo boasts an impressive record of 35-2-1, with his latest fight seeing him beaten on a wide decision against Canelo Alvarez, who recently punched Mexican influencer Paulo Chavira.
Charlo was criticized for his performance at the higher weight class, but this was not the first time he’s walked away without a victory.
In 2021 Charlo fought to a draw with Brian Castano, though he did avenge this in their rematch, stopping Castano in the tenth. The only other man to get the better of Charlo was back in 2018, when Tony Harrison won a unanimous decision.

Tony Harrison brands his son the ‘most dangerous 8-year-old in the country’
Harrison defeated Charlo in 2018 but was not so successful in their rematch the following year, when he was stopped in the penultimate round.
He was ahead on one judge’s scorecard at the time of the stoppage, with the other two being razor-close.
Harrison’s record sits at 29-4-1, and though he has not officially retired, he has not fought since 2023, when he lost by ninth-round stoppage to Tim Tszyu, an opponent Keith Thurman wants next.
On X, the former world champion posted footage of his son on pads, demonstrating some sharp skills. Harrison’s son seems far removed from Mike Tyson’s son, who received much criticism for his pad work.
Mike Tyson has also been seen coaching Arturo Gatti’s son, much to the admiration of fans of the boxing legend.
Jermell Charlo has only been dropped TWICE in his entire career
Of Charlo’s losses, none come by stoppage, and in fact only two men have ever put the Texan fighter down.
The most recent was Canelo, who dropped Charlo in the seventh round on his way to a points victory.
The other was all the way back in 2014, when Charlo faced Charles Bellamy, who dropped him in the third round.
Despite this, Charlo went on to beat Bellamy by unanimous decision.
