Jake Paul has ruffled feathers since his introduction into the sport of boxing. However, ‘The Problem Child’ has created a huge name for himself.
The internet star turned boxer divided opinions in November 2024 when he took on and defeated Mike Tyson, who was 58 years old on fight night. As well as this, Paul has veteran MMA fighters Anderson Silva, Ben Askren, and Tyron Woodley on his resume.
Currently boasting an 11-1 record, the only person to defeat the influencer is Tommy Fury, who Paul said hit him the hardest among all his opponents.
Paul first stepped into the ring in 2018, when both he and his brother made their first steps in crossover boxing.
Jake Paul had his first boxing match in 2018 against fellow YouTuber Deji
In August 2018, a crossover boxing event was held in Manchester, England. The event was headlined by an amateur boxing fight between KSI and Logan Paul, which ended in a draw. The YouTube stars would meet again the following year, as KSI and Paul’s rematch ended in controversy.
In the co-main event of the boxing show, Paul took on the brother of KSI, Oladeji Olatunji, better known as ‘Deji’.
The pair met in an amateur boxing fight, in a bout scheduled for six, three-minute rounds. Paul had no prior boxing experience in terms of amateur or professional fights. Nor would his opponent.
The bout would end in the fifth round. An accumulation of damage throughout the fight meant that when Deji was not responding to the punches of Paul, the referee stopped the bout.
Paul then made his professional boxing debut in 2020, as he started his notable combat sports journey. However, his first opponent, Deji, would also continue to box.
Deji fought Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition boxing match in 2022
After his bout with Paul, Deji continued to compete with fellow YouTubers for the following years. However, in 2022, he would have a huge name in front of him, Floyd Mayweather.
Following his huge money fight with Conor McGregor, Mayweather partook in various exhibition bouts, which have been slated by Eddie Hearn. However, in 2022, he would meet the internet star in an exhibition fight in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Unsurprisingly, the decorated former champion got the better of Deji. In the sixth round of the exhibition, Deji was unable to adequately defend himself anymore, as the fight ended in a TKO victory for Mayweather.
‘Money’ showboated throughout the fight, as he won yet another exhibition fight.
