Jake Paul explains reasons for his loss to Tommy Fury

Jake Paul tasted defeat for the first time when he lost to Tommy Fury.

The internet star Paul and brother of Tyson Fury, Tommy Fury, faced each other in a professional boxing fight in February of 2023.

Although Paul had an unbeaten 6-0 record going into the fight, he would be handed his first loss. Despite scoring a knockdown in the eighth and final round, Fury would win via split decision as the fight took place in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

The bout between ‘The Problem Child’ and ‘TNT’ was a close one, however, Paul did give the reasons why he felt he couldn’t get the victory in Saudi Arabia.

Jake Paul names multiple reasons why he was unsuccessful against Tommy Fury

Speaking on his brother Logan Paul’s podcast, Impaulsive, Jake Paul listed a number of reasons why he was unable to get a win against Fury.

Despite Paul saying Fury was the hardest puncher he’s faced, he did not give too much credit to the man who bested him. Instead, he explains that pre and mid-fight reasons were what went wrong in the bout.

When asked what went wrong in the fight, Paul replied, “Everything. Tommy didn’t win the fight, I lost the fight.”

“I didn’t implement the game plan. My legs were weak going into the fight. I think I cut the weight improperly.”

Paul would also add the fight camp he had was seven weeks as opposed to 12, which he implied he preferred for both weight-cutting and preparation reasons.

‘The Problem Child’ rounded off by saying that he ‘wasn’t at his best’ in the fight.

Tommy Fury went on to beat another YouTube star in KSI

Paul would not be the only internet star to step in the ring with Fury. Following his win over ‘The Problem Child’, Fury would take on British YouTube personality, KSI.

The two Englishmen would clash in Manchester, as the two had a chaotic build-up that included John Fury removing his trousers in a press conference.

However, Fury would also defeat KSI. Winning a largely uneventful decision versus the internet star, Fury’s record now sits at 10-0.

Although Fury was rumored to fight Matt Floyd, it is unclear as to who will be the ‘TNT’s’ next fight.
