Jake Paul can’t afford to write off Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. for one key reason, according to Big Mo

Big Mo has explained why Jake Paul can’t afford to overlook Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

Tomorrow night, the American will write the next chapter of his story when he announces the two main event fighters at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, USA.

Going into the contest, many are siding with ‘The Problem Child’. Tim Bradley believes Paul’s drive will be too much for Chavez Jr.

However, Big Mo is convinced that the Mexican can’t be underestimated.

Big Mo says Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, ‘can box’

Big Mo has gone on a crazy journey from announcing fights in Denver car parks, to becoming one of the most popular Master of Ceremonies on the planet, with the 29-year-old announcing Mike Tyson to the ring for his bout with Jake Paul in November.

However, while that contest was relatively easy for the YouTuber, Big Mo believes Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will make for a much tougher test.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Knockout, he explained: “I think we’re going to get an idea of how good a boxer Jake is.

“The one thing that you can’t discredit about Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., he’s obviously had some battles in the past, some out-of-the-ring stuff that he’s had to deal with, but he is Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. he is 54-6 as a professional and he is a former WBC middleweight champion and the son of Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. He knows how to box.

“Whether his cardio is what it was, I have no idea. Whether his strength is what it was, I have no idea. But he can box.

“So, I think we’re going to get an idea of, ‘Alright Jake, let’s see how much you’ve really been in the gym working. you fought some UFC guys, you fought an older Mike Tyson, let’s get an idea of the real boxing you’ve been doing’.

“It’s been a couple of years since that Tommy Fury fight. He’s been a really dedicated fighter, I respect what he’s doing. I think we’re going to see something from Jake. But I think his key to victory, the youth, power and size is on his size — if you have all three of those, you might be successful.”

Big Mo says Jake Paul is different to any other boxer

Having grown up participating in karate, Big Mo has always loved combat sports, taking a keen interest in boxing.

And throughout his time as a fan, and indeed, working in the fight game, he’s never seen anyone quite like the social media icon.

The Californian explained: “Jake is progressing very well as a boxer in my opinion. People are going to have varying opinions of Jake Paul. I like what he’s doing, I think it’s different from what a lot of professional boxers do early on in their career, in the sense that most boxers for their first 10-15 fights are just developing or building a market, or going to different cities here and there.

“He was a global superstar before he became a boxer, so the track is completely different for him. I think that’s maybe why some people are hot and cold with him. He’s in a different position to anything any other boxer has ever been in.

“The other thing I like about Jake is that every other fight on his card is great professional boxing. The co-main event is Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez vs Yuniel Dorticos, and the co-main on Paul vs Tyson was Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano.”
