Jack Cullen reveals the shocking thing a boxing promoter said to him after he beat a former Canelo Alvarez opponent

Jack Cullen couldn’t believe what Barry Hearn said to him after his major victory against Avni Yildirim.

On 31 July, 2021, at Matchroom Fight Camp, ‘Little Lever’s Meat Cleaver’, who’s scheduled to make his BKFC debut later tonight, went toe-to-toe with ‘Mr Robot’ in a super-middleweight clash.

Going into the bout, Yildirim, who’d shared the ring with Canelo Alvarez, and in the eyes of many ought to have beaten Anthony Dirrell for the WBC world title, was a major favorite.

But Cullen tore up the script in a big way, boxing beautifully en route to claiming a unanimous decision victory.

Jack Cullen was stunned by what Barry Hearn said to him after he beat Avni Yildirim

In a matter of hours, Jack Cullen will embark on the next chapter of his crazy adventure, when he goes to war with Jakub Kosicki at BKFC Fight Night: Manchester, at Planet Ice.

Having already achieved so much in boxing, he’s excited for the next step, recently reminiscing over what Barry Hearn said to him after he had his hand raised against Avni Yildirim.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Knockout, he claimed: “I was going there a big underdog. I shouldn’t have won that fight.

“I remember coming out of the ring after and Barry Hearn coming up to me and saying, ‘F— me, Jack, you’ve b—— us up there, that should’ve been an easy fight for him’. I went, Oh, nice one’.

“He was laughing and joking, but I felt like he was being serious. That was a good night for me.”

Jack Cullen has his sights set on becoming a BKFC world champion

Cullen’s career has been filled with fantastic memories, from triumphing over Yildirim, to knocking out Mark Heffron with a brutal left hook to claim the British and Commonwealth titles.

But his story is far from complete, with the 31-year-old adamant he has what it takes to become a BKFC world champion.

The 31-year-old beamed: “100%, that’s my goal. My first goal in boxing was to win a British title. That was my Dad’s and my dream. I’ve done that, now I’m in BKFC. I want titles. I’m going to climb the ladder, and this time next year, I could be fighting for major titles.

“I’m with the same trainer I was with in my boxing career, and he’s saying, ‘Jack, you’re training harder than you did in boxing’.

“I want this more than ever. I’m not doing BKFC just for one day, I’m here to stay and make a statement.

“My opponent is good, he comes for a fight and he doesn’t take a step back. As long as I stick to the plan, I’ll take him out.”
