‘I’m warning you right now’… Bernard Hopkins squared-up to journalist during heated exchange

Bernard Hopkins got right in the face of a journalist who made a joke he really didn’t like.

In the American’s career, he cemented his status as one of the best to ever lace up a pair of gloves.

The legend was a master tactician, using his sublime technical skills to beat an array of great fighters. Hopkins schooled Kelly Pavlik and beat the great Roy Jones Jr.

However, while he was defensive inside the ring, he could be aggressive when provoked, as one of the UK’s most prominent media members found out.

WOW: Roy Jones Jr’s surprising pick for best boxer he ever faced – it’s not Bernard Hopkins

Bernard Hopkins threatened Steve Bunce during explosive argument

Bernard Hopkins was rendered furious when Steve Bunce made jokes about how cold he was during an interview.

Rather than taking the jibes in his stride, ‘B-Hop’ began angrily threatening the charismatic journalist.

In a clip broadcast on Setanta Sports, the icon raged: “What you said is most important, ‘We wanna get you comfortable’. You want somebody to do something you wanna do, you don’t have to kiss their a–, but at least make it comfortable for them.

“I’ve been around this game for a long time. Don’t have me in a freezer telling me I should be used to it because I live in Philadelphia.

“Then when I say, ‘My feet are frozen’, you say, ‘Why aren’t you wearing warm socks’.”

At this point, Hopkins got right in the interviewer’s face, screaming: “To me, now you’re pushing me. When someone says that to me, I’m ready to get f—— ignorant, and I’m ready to push back. So, I said, I’m warning you right now, if I feel like I’m being pushed, I’m going to push back.”

Clearly concerned with the escalating situation, Bunce exclaimed: “You are so right, that’s why I want to sit you in here and get you in the warm.”

‘The Alien’ was nothing short of a boxing genius, picking up big victories long after Father Time should’ve caught up with him.

In a true moment of magic, the sportsman defied all expectations.

Somehow, Hopkins broke George Foreman’s record to become the oldest boxing world champion ever.
