How the Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol 2 purse compares to first title fight – it could be a career high

We’re just days away from Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol 2 as ‘The Last Crescendo’ promises to deliver an unbelievable night of boxing.

Alongside Beterbiev and Bivol is a star-studded line-up that includes Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker fighting for the IBF heavyweight title.

Many felt Beterbiev robbed Bivol of victory in the first meeting between the two and five months on, scores will be settled at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Beterbiev cemented himself as one of the best light heavyweight boxers of all time by becoming the first undisputed champion of the division since Roy Jones Jr in 1999-2002.

Ahead of Beterbiev vs Bivol 2, official details of the purse are still yet to be revealed but, if reports are to be believed, both fighters could be in for a career-high pay day.

Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol 2 purse details

When the two met back in October, the two fighters landed significantly higher pay days than they had in their career before.

Bivol’s shock victory against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez in 2022 earned him $5m whereas Beterbiev pocketed $1.3m for beating Callum Smith in early 2024.

Their first fight saw both fighters split a $20m purse down the middle and reports from Marca state that they could both earn similar, if not higher, although an official figure hasn’t been disclosed as of yet.

Regardless, on top of the purse and their sponsorship deals, both of the light-heavyweight stars are expected to earn more than they’ve ever done before in their glittering careers.

What is the biggest boxing purse in history?

It may be a huge sum of money on offer in Riyadh on 22 February, but it’s still some way off the biggest purse in boxing history. That accolade goes to Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao.

The 2015 bout, which was dubbed ‘The fight of the century’, both fighters received over $100m from the historic night.

Mayweather and Pacquiao didn’t fight in their primes against each other but the lengthy wait to make it happen was worth it from a financial standpoint.

To compare it to Beterbiev and Bivol’s first matchup, the pair received over 10 times more than what the Russian-born duo earned and they will still be some way off during the ‘Last Crescendo’ this weekend.
