Holly Holm’s final boxing win came in 2013 as former UFC champion returns to ring

MMA legend Holly Holm will make her return to boxing in June 2025 as she is a Hall of Fame athlete in both sports.

Holm’s boxing career began in 2002 and stretched until 2013. Making her UFC debut in 2015, Holm would go on to become a champion in the MMA organization.

With her last UFC fight coming in 2024, Holm has now set her eyes on a return to boxing. Fighting on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ will fight Yolanda Vega.

However, unlike Tyron Woodley vs Paul, this is not an MMA star trying their hand at boxing. At 43 years of age, Holm is looking to pick up where she left off in boxing.

Holly Holm ended boxing journey in 2013 with world title win

Despite being best known for her MMA career, Holm was one of the most decorated champions in boxing at one stage.

Retiring with a professional record of 33-2-3, Holm was only bested by two women in her career.

The final time she stepped into the ring before starting her UFC journey was against fellow American Mary McGee (20-1). Holm was looking to defend her IBA and WBF World Super Lightweight titles against the challenger, and was successful in doing so.

A dominant display in New Mexico would see ‘The Preacher’s Daughter’ win all 10 rounds on the judges’ scorecards. Holm then left the sport of boxing as a champion.

The final loss of her career came in 2011 as Holm was brutally stopped by Anne Sophie Mathis. However, Holm was able to get revenge on her rival the following year, avenging the second loss of her career.

There will be just over 12 years between Holm’s 38th and 39th professional boxing fights. Competing in California, Holm will take on Vega who holds a perfect 10-0 record.

The Mexican will be making her US debut as she looks to improve her winning streak to 11. She is also 14 years younger than former world champion Holm.

Holm had a sporadic run of form in MMA prior to her UFC departure. Her final combat sports outing would see her lose via submission to Kayla Harrison in April 2024.

As for her last win in MMA, Holm had a decision victory against Yana Santos in March 2023.
