Vasyl Lomachenko has many options for his next fight after winning the IBF lightweight title against George Kambosos Jr. in his last fight, but one seems far more attractive than the others.
Lomachenko holds a record of 18-3, though many argue he was on the wrong end of a bad decision against Devin Haney.
Lomachenko is known for holding the best amateur record ever, with 396 wins to one loss.
In his last fight, Lomachenko claimed the IBF title against George Kambosos Jr. and is now looking ahead to his next fight, which may be his biggest yet.

Lomachenko’s manager reveals why they will not face Shakur Stevenson
In an interview with Lomachenko’s manager, Egis Klimas, the Ukrainian commented on who Lomachenko will face in his next fight.
When asked if they’d prefer to face Gervonta Davis, who recently drew with amateur rival Lamont Roach, or Shakur Stevenson, whose last outing saw him beat electrician-turned-boxer Josh Padley, Klimas had this to say:
“[Gervonta Davis] is a much better fighter, he’s an upcoming fighter.”
Klimas continued, criticizing Shakur’s fighting style:
“Shakur is a very good fighter […] but he goes in his shell, he walks away, he runs away. Tank comes to fight. Much more interesting fight.”
‘The Matrix’ was in talks to face Davis but withdrew due to lack of motivation. Despite this, Tank has defended Lomachenko from ducking accusations.
Following Tank’s performance against Roach, with a knockdown that wasn’t called as per WBA rules, the Baltimore star will need a big win to fix his reputation, and Lomachenko, who once begged Richard Commey’s corner to stop their fight, could well be it.
Davis holds a win over Ryan Garcia, who beat Haney in a bout now ruled a no-contest.
Shakur Stevenson speaks on sparring Lomachenko
In an interview, Stevenson spoke on sparring Lomachenko ahead of his fight with Guillermo Rigondeaux, and said that initially he approached their team asking to spar the ‘The Matrix’, which they accepted, but told him he wouldn’t be paid.
Stevenson said he went out there and sparred Lomachenko, and as a result of his work, ended up being paid after all. Speaking on the spar, he said:
“They used me a lot more than they thought they was going to. […] I ain’t gonna speak on sparring but I definitely did what I was supposed to do, and he respected me as a fighter. I think that was probably the problem with this situation cos now it’s like, we can’t get him [to fight].”
