Mike Tyson has delivered some of the greatest nights in boxing with his aggressive style, but does the apple fall far from the tree?
Mike Tyson has had an extremely impressive and wild life, both in the ring and outside of it.
From Tyson’s ear-biting bout against Evander Holyfield which was refereed by a TV judge, to the appearance of Iron Mike in a Nintendo bestseller, all the way to his 8-second knockout of Joe Cortez in Tyson’s bout with him in the junior Olympics, the heavyweight sensation has done a lot in his career.
He retired with a pro record of 50-7, and just yesterday marked 40 years since Tyson’s professional debut. Aside from recently facing Jake Paul, Tyson doesn’t spend much time fighting, but that doesn’t stop him from holding the pads for his son.

Fans unimpressed by Mike Tyson’s son’s boxing ability
In the newly resurfaced footage, recently posted on X, Tyson can be seen holding pads for his son, who seems to be trying to emulate his aggressive style.
Fans of the legendary heavyweight were not so impressed with his son, with some of the comments saying:
“His son needs to pick a different sport”
“He aint got it”
Another jokingly requested the son avenge his father’s most recent loss:
“I hope he beats on Jake Paul in 20 years”
It is unclear which of Tyson’s son this is, or if this was just some fun or serious training. Though if it was real training, then fans are convinced he needs a lot more work if he is to compare to his father.
“Are you stupid?” – Mike Tyson reacts to his son wanting to box
In an appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast, Tyson spoke to Rogan about his son wanting to box, perhaps the same son in the viral clip:
“I have this son that’s sixteen, he wanted to be a boxer. I said ‘Get out of here, you wanna be a boxer? Get out of here, are you stupid? You go to private school.”
Tyson also expressed that his desire for his kids not to follow in his footsteps is also because he doesn’t want someone like his past self hurting them in the ring:
“What’s he gonna do? Fight some guy like me? Some animal? I don’t want my kids to go through that crap. That’s degrading, some guy like that beating on you.”
It seems the critics on social media can rest as Tyson seems adamant no son of his will ever grace the ring and compete.
