Gervonta Davis has faced much criticism for his antics during the Lamont Roach fight, even from reporters and fighters alike.
Gervonta Davis‘ career suffered its first hurdle in his latest outing when the Baltimore fighter moved to 30-0-1 against Lamont Roach Jr.
The fight was marred in controversy as fans argue that it should’ve been ruled a knockdown when Gervonta Davis took a knee, though Davis claimed he had grease in his eye and wasn’t hurt in any way.
The no-knockdown controversy has led to much criticism of the referee and of Tank.

Reporter jokes with Mikaela Mayer over Gervonta Davis
Mikaela Mayer rematched Sandy Ryan last weekend after their first fight was also tainted by controversy.
Ryan was assaulted with paint just hours ahead of her fight with Mayer, which ended in a highly close decision win for Mayer. The rematch was wider but went the American’s way again.
In a post-fight interview, Mayer spoke on Vaseline getting in her eye at one point in the fight, blurring her vision. The reporter beside her then asks:
“[Did you want] to take a knee the way Gervonta did?”
Mayer laughed at the reporter’s joke on Davis, who boats a 90% KO rate, before rejecting the idea of taking a knee.
Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach rematch may happen this year
Following the first fight, in which a scored knockdown for Roach would’ve resulted in the first loss of Davis’ career, Roach claimed on Talk Perspective’s Youtube Channel that there was a rematch clause:
Ahead of his fight with Davis, Roach anticipated that the fight would happen twice, claiming he knew he could beat Davis both times.
He also said a win over Tank would make him seek the fight with Jose Valenzuela, though Valenzuela lost the title on the Roach-Davis undercard to Gary Antuanne Russell.
It is unclear if the rematch will happen next, but Davis, who considers himself the face of boxing, will surely want to settle the score.
